From the Earth to the Sky – Arctic Science Experience

Aurora Science Centre invites you to a unique science event at the Lampivaara Amethyst Mine in Pyhä-Luosto National Park. Set in a landscape shaped over billions of years, the event brings together geology, Arctic research and astronomy in an inspiring natural setting.

Science Centre Aurora is a flagship project planned for Sodankylä, aiming to combine science, education and tourism by making research accessible, experiential and part of the visitor experience.

The programme begins with a Pendolino ride to the amethyst mine, followed by a guided geological visit. After the mine tour, short introductions to Science Centre Aurora and the Loistava project will be followed by a lecture by science communicator Mikko Suominen from Taivo Planetarium, exploring upcoming astronomical phenomena and future developments in space activities. Coffee and Finnish doughnuts will be served throughout the event.
