What is Aurora Science Centre?
Aurora makes Arctic research visible from the ground to the sky. It combines research, education, tourism, and industry into an innovative whole that strengthens Lapland’s expertise and vitality.
The science centre is planned for a new landmark building in the centre of Sodankylä, architecturally strong and international in content. Join us in creating a new kind of Arctic knowledge hub for the future

Why to Sodankylä?
Sodankylä is a natural location for a science centre focused on northern phenomena. The Arctic environment, the sky, and the changing seasons are part of everyday life here and at the same time, of global interest.
Aurora will strengthen the region’s appeal and offer new experiences for both locals and visitors. Its location in the polar region and on a geologically significant greenstone belt naturally connects the area to research in geophysics, geology, minerals, and the Arctic environment.
